Death Chest Datapack

When a player dies, the items in the inventory are stored in a minecart with chest.

Tested version

  • 1.21.1
  • 1.21.5

Specifications

  • Upon death, a minecart with chest is summoned at the death location.
  • Items held at the time of death are stored in the minecart with chest.
  • If the player dies by falling into the End void, the chest will float on the ground at y=0 or the current coordinates.
    • At this time, the summoned minecart with chest will emit a beacon to indicate its location.
    • If the owner of the chest (the deceased player) has a minecart with chest loaded, the direction of the minecart with chest is displayed.
  • The name is displayed so that it is clear who has the minecart with chest that died.
  • The chest will automatically disappear 30 minutes after death. (Items will be dropped.)
  • Time will not be counted if the minecart is not loaded.
  • keepInventory must be set to true to work properly.
