Food Decay is a datapack that adds a simple mecanic: decaying food. Food is now a more valuable resource, to be produced rather than stocked.

Features

  • food do not stack anymore (gamemode survival and adventure)
  • food decay over time in inventory and container (gamemode survival and adventure)
  • 6 decay speeds, from 20 minutes to more than a year
  • food eventually turn into rotten food
  • place 1-5 ice block near your container to slow down the decay process
  • eat food in "fresh" state (durability >66%) may grants quick positive effects (80% saturation 1/2 point, 20% haste 60s, 10% resistance 60s).
  • eat food in "decayed" state (durability <33%) may grants quick negative effects (80% hunger 1/2 point, 20% weakness 60s, 10% poison 3s).
  • compatible with Joshs More Foods

Decay Speeds

  • very fast (20 min): cod, porkchop, salmon, tropical_fish, beef, chicken, rabbit, mutton, pufferfish
  • fast (50 min): melon_slice, mushroom_stew, rabbit_stew, beetroot_soup, pumpkin_pie, cake
  • medium (1h 40min): cooked_beef, cooked_porkchop, cooked_cod, cooked_salmon, cooked_chicken, cooked_rabbit, cooked_mutton, baked_potato
  • slow (8h): bread, cookie, potato, apple, beetroot, carrot, sweet_berries, glow_berries, chorus_fruit, golden_carrot
  • very slow (33h): golden_apple, dried_kelp
  • imperishable (> year): honey_bottle

How to

Disable specific systems for a specific player (Patreon feature)

You can individually add thoses tags on players to makes them personnaly immune to some mecanics.

  • Disable the whole system: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.immune
  • No stack 1 food (also disable decaying food): /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.loot.immune
  • No decaying food in all inventory: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.decay.all.immune
  • No decaying food in offhand: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.decay.offhand.immune
  • No decaying food in hotbar: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.decay.hotbar.immune
  • No decaying food in inventory: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.decay.inventory.immune
  • No decaying food in enderchest: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.decay.enderchest.immune
  • No positive effect on eat: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.ate.fresh.immune
  • No negative effect on eat: /tag [PLAYER_NAME] add fooddecay.ate.decayed.immune
